“Tanzen Gehn” by The Dirtbombs
In the nearly two decades since its conception, The Dirtbombs has been home to many Detroit rock musicians, both in the studio and on the road.
Formed by Mick Collins as a side project of The Gories, they opened for The White Stripes (with Jack White acknowledging them as a major influence) in the early 2000s during the garage rock revival.
It feels like a synchronicity, because a friend invited me to a concert on Wednesday of the other most influential garage rock revival bands of the early aughts, The Strokes.
With The Yeah Yeah Yeahs being of course the third.
‘Tanzen Gehn’ means ‘Go Dancing’ in German.
And the rest of the lyrics seem to be in German except for a refrain of:
Cha Cha Cha
The tickets are in general admission at The Forum.
So it’s likely dancing will be had.
While listening to them to get in the mood, I found this live version of their song “Taken for a Fool”, which is one of my favorites.
With Elvis Costello.
Though part of the lyrics made me think in my mind for a moment about the fear of going to an indoor rock concert.
I know, everyone goes any damn place they choose
A tourist in the ghetto, not afraid of anything
Except death and anything else that could maybe hurt them, oh yeah
If I learned anything from the Ram Dass event I went to and wrote about yesterday @ WisdomLA…
It’s that ‘we have to get out of our minds’.
Okay, that’s the two hundred and eighty-first Shuffle Synchronicities.
