Host Doyle Dean says:
I did o.k. in school, but I never made The Dean’s List. Not until now. It’s difficult to express how excited I am to host The Dean’s List every Monday from 3-5pm. There’s so much great new music to share!
I’ve been an avid music lover since I was in grade school. Music should be melodic, it should be full of passion and explore interesting ideas. Elvis Costello got my attention at a young age and so did artists like Devo and Funkadelic. I called this homework music. Music to listen to while doing homework.
Bands like R.E.M. and Wilco got me inspired me to explore classic country, Paul Simon released Graceland and opened my ears to the sounds of Soweto. Nirvana and The White Stripes reminded me that it’s really fun to play loud.
There’s a new generation out there making great music. It’s not always easy to find, you’ve got to sift through the stacks. But trust me, the great stuff finds its way to the top.
And that’s where I come in. I am determined to discover and share the best of what’s out there today, as well as a few things you may have missed along the way. And a few that I’m sure you remember well.
I promise you’ll hear something that will surprise you. It’s entirely possible that you’ll find a favorite new artist. You don’t have to study, you don’t have homework, you just need to tune in Mondays from 3-5 pm.
