The Model has announced the third in a series of music gigs curated by local DIY record label, Art for Blind, as part of their 2022 residency.
rt for Blind have a wonderful knowledge of Ireland’s rich underground music scene, and this event gives audiences the chance to hear two more outstanding acts – Junk Drawer and Clara Tracey.
Belfast’s Junk Drawer’s features four multi-instrumentalists & vocalists fluid in their roles and are one of the most dynamic bands you’re likely to catch live.
Their intuitively loose and idiosyncratic brand of indie rock mines anthems from their crate-digging tendencies and incorporates the imprint of Krautrock, post-punk, and psychedelia.
Clara Tracey is a songwriter and pianist from County Fermanagh with a sound and style rich and detailed, taking in everything from wonky pop to melancholic bluesy jazz.
Speaking ahead of the gig, Art for Blind’s Edel Doherty said ‘We are thankful to The Model for this curatorial residency, which is providing us with the opportunity to showcase and feature diverse and compelling artists and bands from Ireland’s underground.
“Our intention is to introduce Sligo audiences to new music right here on our shores and we’re thrilled with the response and enthusiasm so far.”
Director of The Model, Emer McGarry acknowledged the key role of the Arts Council in making specific funding available for the residency; and said: “The opportunity to work with Art for Blind enables audiences to tap into their deep knowledge of Ireland’s underground music. We are delighted to provide employment and exposure not just to Art for Blind but also to the many acts they collaborate with and support, we hope audiences continue to enjoy it!”
The residency at The Model will continue into 2022 with further announcements coming soon.
Tickets cost €8 and are available on www.themodel.ie
