Arrest! Charile Tipper
Arrest Charlie Tipper
Arrest Charlie Tipper mix the personal and the political to good effect, always with a melody and bringing noise or quiet as required. The influences of the American Avant guard can be found, with the likes of the Velvet Underground, Galaxie 500, the Go-Betweens and Shack, all to be found mixed in amongst the real originality of their songs and sound.
The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy have a Bristolian pedigree as long as your arm. Longer maybe. Lead singer Tim was in both the Flatmates and the Five Year Plan in the late ‘80’s, before joining the Beatnik Filmstars* for most of the ‘90s. In the 2000s he headed up Forest Giants and then took part in the Short Stories. Guitarist Jon Kent was a founder member of another of Bristol’s C86 squad, the Groove Farm, as well as being the original guitarist for the Filmstars. bassist Geoff Gorton played in the Harpoons, then later Rorschach and major label outfit Santa Cruz.
Blistering garage punk 3-piece from Sheffield with “a whole heap o’ terror-ific rockin’ sounds…provocatively cool…a wicked sense of fun” Flavours of The Cramps & Yeah Yeah Yeahs are bent to their will in order to mix a dangerous musical cocktail!
The Sleazoids are a blistering garage punk 3-piece band from Sheffield, and are a bit like if The Cramps and The Fall merged with Bikini Kill! The band features Missy Tassles on trash guitar and vocals, Paul Dorrington (ex The Wedding Present) on hi-tension bass and vocals with Mitch Genner beating primitive rhythms. They love playing loud music, drinking booze, and having a good time.
Don’t miss there garage filled fun when they make it to Leeds and Wharf Chambers.
Karen are post punk in attitude where spontaneity rules! They are an alt rock n roll trio- think Velvets or Big Star. They are outliers of the indie music scene and comprise of;
Davey Woodward formerly of The Brilliant Corners and The Experimental Pop Band and currently The Winter Orphans on guitar and vocals.
Tom Adams formerly Beatnik Filmstars, Secret Shine and currently The Total Rejection on drums
Hugo Morgan of The Heads and Loop on bass.
The Wandering Summer
The Wandering Summer are a new noisepop, art-punk band from Leeds, mingling lofi jangle with clouds of psychedelic fuzz. The Wandering Summer rouse the essence of The Durutti Column, The Verlaines and Sonic Youth.
The band is comprised of familiar faces on the Leeds music circuit, Singer Guitar player Ged McGurn formerly of Boyracer City Yelps downdime, hooked up with guitar player Luke Wheeler Take Turns and drummer Jamie Deakin Samsa, Lucky Shrimp and Niall (bass) to form The Wandering Summer, this will be a first live outing for the group!
