Three years in the making, Smalltown Devotion/Hometown Compulsion is the follow-up to 2002′s Days That Stand Still EP. Recorded in the basement of The Ford Plant, the all-ages venue operated by Ford, the album provides a portrait of how the group have matured. Days That Stand Still, along with their first EP, We’re Running Out Of Places To Drive, were both composed when the act were in their teens. Since then they’ve become better players and have learned to appreciate other styles of music, adding more diversity to their infectious mix of post-punk and indie rock sounds.
