Originally hailing from Grand Rapids in Michigan, singer-songwriter and guitarist Robbie Rapids now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s there that he’s teamed up with the top session musician and producer David Levene to work on his own style of rock music that takes influence from the pioneering artists of the genre as he journeys through four decades of music from the 60s to the 90s.
The pair’s musical chemistry is clear, with both Robbie and David sharing musical tastes in artists such as David Bowie, The Who, Tom Petty, Oasis and Stone Temple Pilots with a professionalism and dedication to offering the best sound possible readily apparent in their artistic creations.
David’s musical story began when he was just 16 and traveled to Peru, where in 1968 he joined the legendary psychedelic rock band Laghonia, gaining plaudits from Rolling Stone as one of the top bands emerging from South America. After releasing two albums and supporting tours, David left the outfit to return to the USA and develop his all round musical skillset by studying recording technology while gaining more performance experience as a session musician and producer.
Now the prolific duo share one of their latest works with the recent Robbie Rapids single “Who Shot Them Down”. Recounting the 1964 murder mystery that occurred in Gwinnett County Georgia, the new single lays down a classic bluesy rock sound full of rhythm and intricate guitar work. Carried by Rapids’ assured vocal delivery, the song demonstrates a music partnership that knows how to deliver a grooving rock jam.
